Mental Health Stories

It’s one thing to read articles or statistics about mental health, but hearing real stories from real people about their mental health challenges can make an important and lasting impact.

So much about living with mental health challenges is isolating, and so many feel shamed or stigmatized unnecessarily. When you hear someone else’s story — all the details of their day-to-day struggles, the intensity of their emotions, and how they cope — you can begin to feel less alone — you may even start to see a path toward wellness for yourself.

Sharing your own mental health story can also be cathartic. You might consider starting a blog, sharing your story on social media, or journaling. You can share your words publicly, in support groups, with a therapist, or only with family or friends. Either way, telling your mental health story can be incredibly therapeutic, and is a wonderful way to connect with others and help end the stigma.
