Why are you working in therapy/mental health?
I started working in the mental health field because, as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to help people. It’s not fun to battle mental health alone. I have struggled with anxiety and know how difficult it can be. I wanted to provide a nonjudgmental, safe place where people can open up and stop hiding.
Why did you want to start working with Talkspace?
I wanted to start working for Talkspace because I believe there is a lot of power behind writing your thoughts out. I saw the value in having texting therapy as an option. Face-to-face therapy can be intimidating. Talkspace provides a platform where you can remain in the comfort of your own home and get the support you desire. It’s wonderful!
What do you do for fun?
For fun, I like to explore with my husband. We recently moved to Texas, so we like to get out and explore as much as possible. I also enjoy spending time with my dog, hiking, swimming, and hosting guests.
Do you have a mental health hero?
My mental health heroes are my clients. They constantly teach me, and their strength inspires me. There is no better feeling than working with someone and seeing them achieve their goals. People are complex and some have endured tragic circumstances, yet they find a way to seek help, be vulnerable, and push through it. It’s amazing.
